Caught Without Candy


Apples and peanut butter for breakfast today, 11 Weight Watchers Points Plus

Tall chai creme frappuccino with whipped cream and mashed yams for lunch, 14 Points Plus

I snuck two Doritos somewhere along the way, 1 Point Plus.

Heat and eat veggie lasagna for dinner, 13 Points Plus.


I don’t celebrate Halloween but I don’t have such a cold, withered heart that I would deny candy to a child knocking on my door and begging for it.  I live in an apartment building though, so it’s been years since I’ve had a trick-or-treater.  Still, I always buy a bag of candy because of that one year when I didn’t buy a bag and a kid actually showed up.

Cue me shuffling wildly through the pantry hoping desperately for a granola bar or something somewhat candylike.  Luckily I found a few stale souvenir toffees from a trip we’d taken to Niagara Falls months earlier.  I say luckily…

The poor kid never came back, but I have never again been without a bag of candy on Halloween just in case.  This year I asked my husband to pick it up and he brought two bags.  Now this is sitting on my table. Danger!


The Halloween candy usually doesn’t survive the night despite the lack of trick-or-treaters, but this year I took just one, because I had just one point in my daily Points Plus allowance and I plan to have a rather inappropriate day tomorrow so I’ll be needing some weeklies for that.  So, one Butterfinger peanut butter cup, 3 Points Plus. 42/39 for the day. The end.
